A Message From Our Senior Pastor

Welcome friend,

I remember when I was first coming to terms with my sexuality. I was terrified that there was something dreadfully wrong with me. I kept praying desperately for the feelings I was having to go away. I didn’t know anyone else who “struggled with homosexuality” like I did. I felt alone and lonely. I worried that I was going to lose everything I held dear; my family, my church, maybe even God.

I frantically searched for answers but the more I read the more confused I got. It seemed like everyone had a different idea and opinion and almost all of them made some kind of rational sense. But nothing felt right.

And I was scared. I was so, so scared. And I felt like there was no one on the planet who really saw my struggle or understood what I was going through. That loneliness just compounded my fear.

Maybe you feel that way right now. Maybe you are just coming to terms with your sexuality or your gender identity and you don’t quite know how to accept it. Or maybe you’ve been out for a while but you’re still in a place where you’re not *really* sure if it’s okay to be queer or trans. Or maybe you think it might be okay but your family or church definitely says it’s not.

I just want you to know: You are not alone. You are not the only one going through what you are going through. You are not the only one with questions, not the only one searching for answers, not the only one with desperate prayers in the middle of the night.

We are here with you. We are walking this journey by your side. We see you. We see you in your fear and your pain. We see you in your doubt. We see you in your struggle.

We hear what you are asking. We hear your questions and your longing. We hear your wondering.

You. Are. Not. Alone.

More than anything we want you to know that. You are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses who are cheering you on. You are surrounded by a community that thinks you are amazing, just as you are. We believe that you are holy and whole. That you can grow closer to God and to yourself in the midst of your struggle. We believe that the journey you are on is worth it and that we are journeying with you every step of the way.

You are welcome here. You are home here. You are loved here.

We see you. We hear you. You are going to be okay.

Please contact our parish office for any pastoral care need that you might have.
